The Volusia County government has announced locations for its shelters for those looking to ride out Hurricane Idalia. Those who are still in need of a safe location for the storm are advised to make arrangements as soon as possible. DeLand will host one of the county’s shelters, located at 3150 E New York Ave (fairgrounds) for the general population. Pets will be accepted at this shelter. Individuals who do not have permanent housing are advised to report to the Hester Building at this location. Special needs residents are advised to report to the Florida Department of Health’s Daytona Beach location at 1845 Holsonback Drive. Votran will be shutting down in Volusia County at 5:00pm Tuesday, according to Volusia County Emergency Management. Announcements regarding shelters in Flagler County are expected to be revealed at a press conference at 2:00pm Tuesday.
