The Robert Strickland Shooting Range will temporarily be closed two extra days out of the week, the Volusia County government announced Monday. While it’s ordinarily open Tuesday through Sunday, the range will only be open Thursday through Sunday for the time being. An announcement about the change from Volusia County says that the limited days of operation will take effect on Tuesday, April 21. The hours of operation will remain the same; Strickland Shooting Range will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day that it’s open. According to their announcement, the county government says that the purpose for the limited days of operation is to “ensure all hours are consistently supported by qualified range safety personnel and to maintain safe, reliable operations.” Annual and semi-annual passholders will receive a one-month extension to their membership free of charge to offset any inconvenience from the adjustment, the county says. This extension will be applied to their accounts automatically, with no action required to take advantage. The timeline for the Strickland Shooting Range to return to its normal schedule of operation is currently unclear. Volusia County says it expects that this will occur ‘in the coming months’, and that notice will be given before this transition occurs. Those with questions about the change are asked to call the Volusia County Parks, Recreation, and Culture Division at (386) 736-5953.
