ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Timothy Young, a 43-year-old man from Ormond Beach, has been arrested on 20 counts of child pornography possession, plus one additional charge of not registering an online account as a sex offender. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office confirmed Young’s charges in a press release issued on Friday. According to the VSO, a tip was sent by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerting police of Young’s alleged illegal activities. A three-month investigation was launched into Young by the VSO and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and a warrant was obtained for his residence on Avenue I, located off Nova Rd. Upon the execution of the search warrant, detectives found several of Young’s electronic devices, each of which were turned over to the FDLE’s Cybercrimes Task Force for further analysis. Police say Young had sexually explicit photos of girls from under six years old to under twelve. He’s said to have downloaded these photos off the internet, with the VSO currently giving no indication as of now that he helped create the images. As of the time of the VSO’s statement, Young was being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $250,000 bond as he awaits his first court appearance. As usual for incidents concerning child pornography, the VSO is asking anyone who may have more information relating to Young’s case to contact the VSO Child Exploitation Unit by calling (386) 323-3574.
