Daytona Beach’s Jerome Anderson was given three life sentences in prison on Monday for three murders that took place in 2023. He entered a no contest plea to each of three charges of first degree murder with a firearm. Circuit Judge Kathryn Weston presided over the case. On July 12, 2023, Anderson was accused of shooting his roommate inside the pair’s home on Park Drive in Daytona Beach. Afterward, he’s said to have walked outside and shot two more men. All three succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Surveillance video from the shooting depicts Anderson seemingly chasing one of the victims in the road and shooting at him. At one point he appeared to have fired shots at a victim while they were on the ground. One witness in the case said that Anderson was in an argument with the victims one day prior while they were at a convenience store. In that exchange, the witness said they heard Anderson threaten the men’s lives. The same day as the shooting, Anderson was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on three counts of first degree murder. He was also given one count each of attempted first degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted in-state felon, aggravated battery with bodily harm, and witness tampering by preventing communication with law enforcement. Anderson, 41, will now be spending the rest of his life in prison. After being arrested he was said to have admitted to the fatal shootings. The incident was investigated by the Daytona Beach Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Andrew Urbanak. Jerome Anderson has prior arrests in Volusia County for heroin possession with intent to sell, domestic battery, sale of cocaine, burglary, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon among several other charges. “The defendant is a dangerous and violent offender,” said State Attorney R.J. Larizza. “Removing him from our community was essential to our duty to protect you and your family.”
