A Jacksonville man was charged in the 2024 death of an infant in Daytona Beach. 27-year-old Dajuan Patrick is accused of inflicting injuries onto his five-week-old daughter, leading to her eventual death. According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Dahlia Siebenhaar was admitted to the hospital on December 2, 2024 with severe traumatic injuries. She suffered from ‘extensive head trauma, broken ribs, bruising across the body, and retinal hemorrhages due to being shaken and held with extreme force’, the VSO said. Siebenhaar was unresponsive when she was admitted to the hospital. She tragically never regained consciousness, and was removed from life support on December 12, 2024. An examination by Volusia County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jame Fulcher indicated that the death was a homicide. Ever since the young girl’s death, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office has investigated the details surrounding the case. The agency says it’s reviewed medical records and conducted interviews prior to Patrick’s arrest. This week Patrick has finally been criminally charged in his daughter’s death. He was arrested initially in Jacksonville before being extradited to Volusia County. Patrick is charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child. Before this booking he has one other arrest on record in Volusia County: refusing to leave public property in January 2025. “The arrest in this case won’t bring Dahlia back or give her the childhood she deserved, but today we’re speaking up for her, because her life mattered,” said Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
