282 passengers had to be evacuated from a Delta Airlines flight on Monday after it caught fire at the Orlando International Airport. Delta Flight 1213 was slated to travel to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The plane was sitting on the tarmac when one of its two engines appeared to burst into flames. The plane was at full capacity, with 282 passengers plus ten flight attendants and two pilots. After the fire started, inflatable slides were deployed and the occupants evacuated to the safety of the ground. As of Tuesday the reason for the fire is not yet known. The Federal Aviation Administration is actively investigating. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported thus far from the frightening close call. The plane in question was an Airbus A330. “Delta flight crews followed procedures to evacuate the passenger cabin when flames in the tailpipe of one of the aircraft’s two engines were observed,” Delta said in remarks reported by CNN Travel. “We appreciate our customers’ cooperation and apologize for the experience. Nothing is more important than safety and Delta teams will work to get our customers to their final destinations as soon as possible.” This incident came just one week after two different Delta Airlines flights reportedly had ceiling collapses while the planes were in flight. A Boeing 757 plane on its way from Santa Ana, California to Atlanta, Georgia on April 14th reportedly had this issue, followed by another instance with a Boeing 717 traveling from Atlanta to Chicago, Illinois. One passenger was reported injured between the two incidents.
