DeLand, FL – Both a special election for the Daytona Beach City Commission Zone 2 seat and a municipal election in Lake Helen for Mayor and City Commissioner Zone 1 take place today The Daytona Beach candidates are Ken Strickland and Larry McDermott. They are in a run-off after no one candidate received 50 percent of the vote plus one in a September 21 special election. In Lake Helen, Vernon J. Burton and Cameron Lane are running for the Mayor’s seat. The City Commissioner Zone 1 candidates are Kelly Frasca and Heather Rutledge. Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis said that since early voting for both elections only took place at her office, there were eight votes cast.
