Serena Williams won’t be going for gold in Tokyo. The superstar said she would not compete in the upcoming Olympic Games for Team U.S.A.
During a Sunday press conference at Wimbledon, Williams said, “I’m actually not on the Olympic list, not that I’m aware of. If so, then I shouldn’t be on it. There are a lot of reasons that I made my Olympic decision. I don’t feel like going into them today, but maybe another day. Sorry.”
As far as missing out on the Olympics, Willams said, “It has in the past been a wonderful place for me, but I really haven’t thought about it, so I’m going to keep not thinking about it.” Serena has won four Olympic gold medals over her career.
