A Deltona resident was convicted and sentenced for the molestation of two young girls on Wednesday. 33-year-old Steven Cribb was found guilty on six charges in a two-day trial in Volusia County. Cribb reportedly confessed three years ago to the sexual abuse of two girls who were under 12 years old. He was arrested in February 2023 and has been in custody ever since. During the trial, Cribb testified that he made his confession while suffering from the effects of mental illness. Now, Cribb has been convicted on two counts of sexual battery on a victim under 12 years old, two counts of lewd/lascivious molestation on a victim under 12 years old, plus one count each of conspiracy to commit sexual battery on a person under 12 years old and conspiracy to commit lewd/lascivious molestation on a victim under 12 years old. Both Cribb and his wife, Laura Dietz, have been charged for the abuse of the victims. Dietz testified against Cribb during his trial, and her case currently remains open. The alleged crimes came to light after one of the victims told school administrators about the incidents. Cribb was immediately sentenced to mandatory life in prison following his conviction. “Your prosecutors are dedicated to protecting you and your family by ridding our communities of those who prey upon our children,” said State Attorney R.J. Larizza. “A life sentence in this case makes justice a reality for all of us.”
