The Daytona Beach Police Department has arrested a juvenile in connection to a shooting that took place on Saturday in Daytona Beach. The incident happened at the Clyde Morris Landings Apartment Homes, located at 1381 N. Clyde Morris Blvd, just south of the intersection with LPGA Blvd. According to a statement on the incident released by the DBPD, the shooting occurred sometime shortly before 8:00 pm. Officers responding to reports of shots fired at the apartment complex, and discovered one juvenile victim upon arrival. They’d been shot in the right knee, the DBPD said. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with what was described as ‘non-life-threaning injuries’. They are expected to survive, the DBPD says. A suspect was identified as being another juvenile who was said to have fled the area. Officers who responded to the incident were able to locate the juvenile suspected of committing the shooting. They were arrested that day. The DBPD stated that neither the names of the suspect or victim will be included in public statements due to their ages. This is a departure from the practice of the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, which has begun publicly identifying juvenile perpetrators in certain crimes in hopes of deterring future offenses. The investigation into the shooting is still active and ongoing, the DBPD says. Any further information will be added here or in a separate report.
