One person was injured in a shooting in Pierson on Friday, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office confirmed. There’s still no named suspect in the investigation, which is ongoing as of Monday. In a statement on the shooting released by the VSO, the agency said the incident took place outside a residence at 653 Glenhaven Ave. The first deputy to arrive on-scene discovered the victim, a man who’d been shot in the neck. The victim was sitting in the driver’s seat of a minivan at the time that emergency response personnel arrived. The first VSO deputy on-scene administered initial first aid while additional units made their way over, including applying pressure to the wound. Bodycam footage showed a significant amount of blood having stained the victim’s shirt from the gunshot in his neck. Fortunately, the victim is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment in serious, but stable condition. Deputies were able to find out that, according to the victim, the suspect was a coworker of his. The coworker was said to have walked up to the victim’s vehicle, shot him, and then ran from the scene. Three days after the shooting, the VSO still has not identified a suspect or confirmed an arrest. Be advised: blood is visible in the below video.
