A woman was injured after being run over on the beach in Daytona Beach Wednesday, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thursday. The victim, a 71-year-old woman from New York, was near the beach ramp at Silver Beach Avenue. According to details about the incident from the VSO, the woman was sitting in a beach chair at around 2:43 pm on Wednesday. She was behind a vehicle at the time of the incident. An 84-year-old woman from De Leon Springs was then said to have pulled out of her parking spot in a Chevrolet Colorado. As she navigated her truck, the De Leon Springs woman reportedly drove over the victim’s head with her right rear tire. She reportedly didn’t see the victim there in her chair, and was unaware she’d hit anyone until witnesses flagged her down. The VSO confirmed there were no indications that she was driving impaired. The victim was to Halifax Health Medical Center to be treated for her injuries, which are said to not be life-threatening. The VSO described her as being in stable condition. The driver stayed at scene as law enforcement and emergency personnel responded, providing her cooperation to the investigation.
